54: Amanita Muscaria, The Holiday Fungus

We celebrate the Christmas legend and psychoactive culture this week by discussing the legal psychedelic, Amanita Muscaria, ‘the trippy mushroom’, or Fly Agaric. This iconic fungus has influenced stories, legends, religions, counter culture, pop culture, and may have even been at the root of the Christmas story we all know so well. Having applications including food, medicine, recreation, and entertainment, it can even be crumbled into milk to attract and kill flies. We cover these topics and contemplate it’s potentially huge influence it may have played on one of our most widely celebrated holidaze.
